Q: “A friend of mine said that starting your essay with a quote of a famous person is a bad idea. Do you agree?”
A: “I do! I read lots of essays that do that. So, admissions officers probably do, too. It just seems overdone to me.”
Q: “How many drafts is too many?”
A: “Tough question. You want to keep making your essay better. But when you get to past 5 drafts, are you really doing that? If your foundation is strong, meaning, if your story is solid, you shouldn’t need to go past 3 or 4 drafts.”
